Our Guiding Principles
March 16, 2010
Our Guiding Principles:
The Ninth will track the legal trends developing out of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
The Ninth is an impartial, journalistic entity providing readers with objective information. Commentary always will be clearly designated.
We also attempt to avoid any appearance of bias or favoritism, including towards the clients of the attorneys who work on the blog. If at all possible, we avoid publishing pieces favoring one side of a case; we will instead have pieces with contrasting views.
With respect to the cases of firms or attorneys with relationships with the blog (i.e., McGuire Coats LLP), our roles are uniformly disclosed in any discussion of that case (even when we do not appear on the briefs). If McGuire Coats LLP or one of the contributing authors or editors works on a case, that attorney or an attorney from that firm will not write about the case on the blog, except in the rare instance that we cannot find another author.
The Ninth (blog) never seeks to influence the decision making by the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Feedback:
Every email sent to feedback is reviewed by a blogger with The Ninth. We try whenever possible to reply to emails. However, given our limited resources of time, we do not guarantee either responses or that ideas sent to us will be incorporated.
Reproduction of Content:
The Ninth holds an “Attribution Non-Commercial No Derivatives” license from Creative Commons. That means that our content may be reproduced and redistributed without our permission, but only if it is attributed to The Ninth and neither used for profit nor modified. If you are uncertain whether your use of blog content is permitted under this license, please contact: theninth.feedback@gmail.com.
